Charlotte Durham
Charlotte Durham, aged 27, is PR and Communications Executive at Pertemps Network Group. She has been with the organisation for three years, having previously worked as an interim for three months.
Charlotte trained as a teacher at university as she had always wanted to work in education but found that her path led her elsewhere, working on fixed contracts for voluntary organisations which included some PR work. It sparked a love of communications that endures today.
She completed a stint with Pertemps as an intern and let them know she was interested in pursuing a career with the PR and comms team. A few months later, a vacancy opened and, remembering the enthusiasm she had brought to the team, she was contacted, interviewed and got the job.
Working in communications can be a cut-throat, high pressure world to operate in. It is not for the faint-hearted but, from day one, Charlotte has attacked the role with enthusiasm, pragmatism and professionalism. She was able to quickly build strong relationships with key people across the organisation, including the leadership team, a network that enables her to keep her finger on the pulse of what is happening in the business.
Her organisational skills are second to none and nothing is ever too much trouble.
Add to that the fact that Charlotte is dyslexic, moving into communications was very brave move, something that has inspired others in the organisation after she shared her experience in an internal video circulated to colleagues during National Dyslexic Awareness Week in October 2021.
