Rebrand announced for The Oval Group

21st November: Commercial insurance broker, The Oval Group (Oval), has announced a major rebrand following its recent acquisition by Arthur J. Gallagher.

From this week, Oval will transition to the Arthur J. Gallagher brand, fully aligning the two businesses with a common identity as they seek to build on their combined success, which has created a top three UK commercial retail insurance broker.

The rebrand of Oval follows the transition of Giles Insurance Brokers and Gallagher Heath to the Arthur J. Gallagher brand, which took place earlier this year following the 2013 acquisition of Giles and the 2011 deal, which brought Heath Lambert into the Arthur J. Gallagher group.

Arthur J. Gallagher’s £199 million acquisition of Oval in April 2014 marked a transformational deal that radically expanded its UK geographic footprint, bringing into the fold 20 new regional branch locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, taking it into at least 10 new geographic territories and establishing it as the largest commercial insurance broker in several cities.

It brought together two high-performing businesses that, combined, are delivering even better propositions to clients due to the complementary nature of their industry specialisms and areas of expertise. Oval’s strong retail broking position in the UK and focus on medium to large corporate clients has provided a powerful complement to the SME-bias of Arthur J. Gallagher’s existing commercial insurance brooking expertise.

The deal cemented Arthur J. Gallagher as a major force in regional commercial insurance broking, responsible for £1billion of insurance premiums from more than 70 client-facing branch locations across the UK, employing approximately 2,000 people.

For former Oval customers, however, it is still very much business as usual, as Lisa Evans, Enterprise Business Unit Leader, explains: “Following the acquisition, our top priority was delivering a successful integration of the two businesses with minimum interruption to our valued customers. We’re delighted to announce today the completed rebrand of Oval to Arthur J. Gallagher across the UK. For our customers in the West Midlands and Warwickshire, it is very much business as usual.
