Having worked for 30 years in the corporate world, as an IT Manager with IBM and Cadbury Schweppes, I found myself looking for new challenges and a different way of working life.  I wanted more independence and flexibility and, above all, I wanted to be an entrepreneur.  And so in 2005 I started my self-employed adventure – and never looked back.

First, I set up a holiday consultancy with my husband, arranging all sorts of scenic self-drive tours around Britain.  I loved the variety and pace of the work, but a decade later it was time to move on when my husband retired due to ill health.

For a few years, I had been fascinated with the idea of running an online gift shop with a difference.  A store that stocked beautiful and practical presents for people like me who wanted good quality gifts without any gimmicks.  People who didn’t have the time or inclination to go shopping on the High Street or in impersonal out of town retail parks.  People who weren’t looking for the same gift ideas they could find in every department store in every town.

I decided it was finally time to turn my dreams into action and the result was Peach Perfect  www.peachperfect.co.uk, my very own boutique shop filled with lovely presents “to inspire and desire”.  Since then I’ve faced so many challenges, creating a website (twice), building up relationships with customers and suppliers, and working hard to give online visitors a shopping experience that’s memorable for all the right reasons!

There’s always more to learn and do, of course, but I’ve now reached a stage where Peach Perfect is nicely bedded in and the business is growing well.  This means I can spend more time networking and meeting like minded people to exchange experiences and share suggestions and advice.  I’m looking forward to meeting other business owners in the Ladies First network, making new contacts and being motivated by this supportive and inspiring group.
